3/29/2024 0 Comments 3d rpg map maker![]() There are some unique enemies like the killer rabbits as well as the bosses being fairly unique to the game. I know I keep repeating it but the best way to describe the enemies in this game is again to reference Legend of Zelda as you have enemies that are very much like octorocks, moblins, those centaur guys and the jumping spiders. I suppose in theory you could create a main character that looked like Link and then really complete the Zelda feel. There seems to be a class system with some characters being called heroes and scholars but I am unsure of the difference. One cool thing about 3D Dot is you can create your character or choose from a variety of pre created characters. The map even has a large graveyard where pushing the right tombstone will reveal a secret passage and a powerful sword. The dungeons are loosely themed after elements. ![]() The map is fairly large and separated into desert, volcano, forest ect… with areas being blocked off until the correct items are obtained from a dungeon. ![]() ![]() The overworld is, again, just like any classic Legend of Zelda game. The music was good but writing this article I can’t think of any tracks that especially stood out. It does work and gives the game a very unique look that I liked. The story goes that the land of 3D Dot was once a 2D land but was recently transformed into a 3D world and the game world is sort of trying to replicate that early 3D look but in a Minecraft style. The game has a very unique look with a sort of a isometric Minecraft art style which looks very nice in HD. The game actually does have a built in screenshot utility but when used it eliminated the HUD so as most of my screenshots were taken with the in game utility please take note of the missing HUD. In the image above you can see the games HUD with very “Legend of Zelda” magic and life bars as well as amount of gold, bombs and arrows on the left as well as dual items selected on the right. Id like to take a moment to point this out because I just noticed. Once out of the dungeon the new item or ability is then used to access a previously inaccessible section of the world leading to the next dungeon. The new item or ability acquired in said dungeon is then used to solve new puzzle’s to advance. Within each dungeon there is one of the orbs you are searching for as well as a new item. You travel the overworld searching for dungeons. If you’ve played any Legend of Zelda game the formula is exactly the same. You play as the hero summoned by the king to scour the land and collect the magical orbs needed to defeat the demon. As the story goes the 2D world was recently changed into a 3D world and the ancient evil demon once defeated by the ancient hero is once again stirring. Basically if you like the NES and SNES Zelda games you should like 3D Dot Game HeroesģD Dot, which is what I’m going to refer to it as from now on, is aside from being heavily “influenced” by Zelda is a pretty tongue in cheek game. I’m not even sure clone does it justice as I’m surprised there wasn’t some kind of legal issues, this game feels that much like the Legend of Zelda right down to the items, enemies and game world. Games like Sacred and Titans Quest which I’ve covered on the blog in the past.ģD Dot Game Heroes is NOT a Diablo clone but it is the lesser heard term of a Zelda clone. If your somehow not in the know a Diablo clone is a game that heavily lifts gameplay elements from the game Diablo which was a defining hack and slash action RPG with an emphasis on grabbing large amounts of loot from dead enemies. In the world of action RPGs you hear the term “diablo clone” from time to time.
